Nan suggested that we meet at a lingerie store where her daughter Luisa is working – great seeing her – and then we stopped at Panificio La Spiga Di Petruzzi Daniele to buy some wonderful baked goods and panini for lunch at around 2pm. After lunch we drove to Grassina, the town outside Firenze where they used to live, to pick up a Torta Pasqualina for Easter made by an old friend.
Nan has let me borrow a shopping cart which will be super helpful getting stuff home, and then can easily be carried in my arms up the 3 flights of stairs, and we put that in the car before heading out. On the way back to Firenze, Nan let me out near a Carrefour Express grocery store where I stopped to buy a few things, and then headed back to the apartment around 6pm.
I put everything away and eventually went out for a late pasta dinner walking toward the Duomo. It was a lovely osteria named the OK Bar, and I had spaghetti alla carbonara and a glass of house red wine. After dinner the owner sent over a glass of limoncello as a digestive, then back to the apartment and eight hours of sleep.
