My train to Milan today was at 11am, so I made plans to get to the pharmacy in the morning as he expected to have his delivery by 9am – and he did. From there I walked to the train station and took the train from Camp di Marte to Firenze Centrale and then checked with a ticket agent about taking an earlier train since I was there early. Instead of a 10:55am train I got on a 9:55am train that got into Milan about noon, and the hotel I’m staying in is literally across the street from the central train station. They were able to get me a room early and I settled in a bit.

There was nothing today that was part of the visit to Salone di Mobile which will start in full tomorrow at 8:00 o’clock when we leave for the fair and all of the participants meet each other. I took a long walk towards the Castello of Milano and also purchased a three-day public transit pass. Along the way I stopped at a fabulous restaurant that I found on Yelp called the Settembrini 18 and had a wonderful seafood risotto that had clams, calamari, shrimp and all kinds of wonderful stuff along with insalata mista, a glass of vino rosso and l’acqua frizzante. I continued walking towards the Castello and picked up the public transit pass there. Along the way I went through a park that I had never been in before, and all the kids were out playing soccer and having lots of fun.

I was tired from my 2.7-kilometer stroll through Milano and took the subway to Milano Centrale and walked across the street to the hotel. I actually laid down on the bed because I was tired and tried to take a nap, but of course that that didn’t work. The people organizing the trip never make any suggestions for their visitors to get together for dinner the first night, or any other night. I sent an email to our contact, said I woud enjoy having dinner with someone from our group, she was not able to share the contact list with me, but sent out an email with the suggestion and my contact info – no one responded. It was now raining, so for dinner I walked across the street to the station got a calzone, and that was €6 euro compared to the €32 euro for my wonderful lunch. Now it’s about 9:30, and time to start getting focused on early sleep.
