Tuesday - Day 48

As noted, I did not go to class today and canceled my Tuesday private lesson. I went out and got the medication, gave myself a shot, and Nan was able to secure an appointment at the Instituto Leonardo Da Vinci clinic this afternoon at 5pm, which is within walking distance of their home. The doctor was very helpful and Nan was there to get all the information and translate when required. The doctor did an ultrasound on both legs and confirmed that the right leg was not a big problem as it was a thrombosis close to the surface. What was a problem was a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) she found in the left leg. She told us I had to see another specialist to get the continuing therapy (drugs) needed. I was completely bummed out – how many trips have I been on with some medical or dental problem arising?

Nan and I walked around the neighborhood, Nan got some things for the house she needed, we went to a medical supply store to get another pair of compression socks and then stopped for drink – I needed the anesthesia. Back to their home for dinner where I gave myself my evening heparin shot. Part of my upset was owing to a planned one-night trip to Rome on Saturday, 4-5 June to see Rebecca and family, and if it would have to be canceled owing to the next appointment. I have been in a real good place mentally for most of my time here, and this issue changed that for the time being.
