Simple day, went to N&M for lunch, Andrea showed up also, and good conversation. Andrea is somewhat frustrated with the changes happening in his photography world. He is focused on doing photography as art, and sees that technology is changing everything for him. His thinking is that photography will become Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality or video – and where will that leave him? My thoughts were that all art has been affected by technology, and art, like life, will just change - it's been that way from the beginning of humanity. Early it was cave paintings, simple carvings, growing to more refined sculpture, and painting on wood, then canvas and paper as those materials were invented. The work became more sophisticated by adding perspective, longer lasting color, and other materials such as ceramic. As technology changed from analog to digital the art changed again, and that process will continue as long as the human race is around. He is feeling that his art form is being left behind, but I suggested that he think about the new options and see if there is any way his art can move to the digital realm.
